I was born in Ashland,
Ohio in 1975 and grew up on the family farm raising crops
and cattle. Throughout my youth, I was active in 4-H,
taking a variety of projects, but concentrating mostly on
woodworking, model rocketry, and goats. In high school, I
became involved with the FFA
and participated on the Dairy Cattle judging team and the
first parliamentary procedure team from Ohio to compete in
the national contest in Kansas City, Missouri.
In December of
1998, I graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's
of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering. It
has long been an ambition of mine to work as a programmer
in the video games industry, so during my college career,
I took as many classes pertaining to graphics programming
as I could.
Since graduation,
I have worked as the lone programmer for Jamination
Productions, Inc. in Grandview, OH. My job has been primarily
updating and developing new software for creating animation
for display on scoreboards and video boards. I have had to
port all of the existing code from DOS to Windows NT/2000.
Having the opportunity to do this has allowed me to gain fluency
in developing Windows programs, as well as helping me to advance
my knowledge of computer graphics programming. Other tasks
I have performed while at Jamination
include writing scripts for 3DS
Max and, most recently, developing plugins for Discreet
Combustion.
In January 2001,
I took on a part-time job working for the Ohio
Agricultural Research and Development Center to maintain
the Hydroponic
Vegetables website. My tasks here have included redesigning
the website to assist in providing information to growers,
as well as creating spreadsheets and Java applets to provide
growers an interactive learning tool.
